I know that the news has already spread about Charles Garbett's death. We are so very sad and shocked and sorry to hear that Charles, longstanding member of St. Augustine’s and our pianist, died last night of Covid19. As many of you know, Charles had underlying leukaemia, and in fact a remarkable story to tell of God’s healing for himself and his beloved Angela. We grieve for ourselves and of course want to surround her and their whole family with our love and prayers at this terrible time for them.
Charles died in Easter Week and we know he had quiet but firm confidence in Jesus - and indeed sometimes exuberant faith when he really let rip on the piano - and that he is now risen with him. Alleluia.
Charles’s funeral will be on 11th May 10.50am – and under lockdown conditions will be limited in person to his immediate family. Of course when we get out of lockdown we will want to remember and grieve and give thanks for Charles together.

Coronavirus update 26 March 2020
We have now had very clear instructions from the Archbishops and Bishops about the closure of church buildings following the Prime Minister's announcement on Monday evening. It means that there can be no more physical private prayer times in churches and that I have to work from home as well. This also applies to the Anchor Project at St Clements and all other church users. I shall be closing down the office at St Augustine's today and working from home apart from necessary ventures to get post and let any essential/urgent worker in. I will be posting notices at both churches.
